Gabriel was very excited today - he got the opportunity to earn some money. Lacy was raking her yard, and offered to pay Gabe for helping her pick pine cones up. When she first asked him if he was interested in making some money, his response was, "I'm in kindergarten...I can't get a job!". He picked up 50 pine cones, and made $10 for his hard work. I tell you - the minimum wage for 6 year olds is apparently astronomical!
In other news, Taryn and I got 'new' beds today. Lacy and Brian are going to be fostering a couple of adorable kids, and decided they wanted to trade the queen size bed they had in their spare room for a twin size bed (more suitable for a child). So...we gave them Taryn's twin size bed, Taryn got Ben and my full size bed, and we got Brian and Lacy's queen size bed. I figure it was a win-win all the way around. We had some dicey moments trying to make their bed frame fit my headboard, but it's been at least temporarily rigged to stay together.
Today's Wednesday, which means it's time for our weekly deployment chain picture. The chains are now getting long enough that I don't think I could lay them down and take pictures, so this was our solution:
As you can see from the picture, the chains are almost as long as Gabriel is tall. I don't think it's going to be too terribly much longer before we have to find somewhere to hang them up.
And on that note, I'm going to go seek my bed. Until day 22...
