Day 49

Another slow, lazy day in our house.  Gabe spent a lot of time outside playing.  I did get a little exercise; we walked up to Taryn's school to drop off a copy of the lease to prove we still live on base, and to pick up some paperwork that they were trying to mail to our first on-base address.  Well, I walked...Gabe scootered...lol.

Other than that, today was pretty much same old, same old.  It's Wednesday, which means it's time for the weekly deployment chain picture:

It's current location is a temporary measure, til I figure out how I want to hang it up.  For a little bit of a size reference, the outside of the frame is about 14x18.  For anyone who's wondering, Taryn has been at her dad's house for spring break since Saturday, so that's why her chain isn't in the picture.  It'll be back next week after she gets home and adds all the links for this week.

And now, in the famous words of Porky Pig, th-th-th-th-that's all folks!  I'll be back on day 50!

Day 48

Today was another one of those days where there just isn't really much to talk about.  I got to talk to Ben for a little while this afternoon, and that was pretty much the highlight of my day.

Gabe spent a lot of time outside playing, since the weather's been so nice.  I like that there are lots of kids around here to play with, but I wish they were a little more mannerly.  The neighbors right across the street from us have four kids; a couple of them have absolutely no issues with wandering into any door that might be open...the garage, the front door, the screened porch, whatever.  The oldest one went into our garage and tried to take my bike out the other day; karma got him, and he fell before he got even a quarter of the way down the driveway.  His sister is just as bad about wandering into places, and she's one of those kids that likes to repeat things over and over and over and over.  I just wish people would teach their kids more respect and manners.

Other than that, we just have a lot of 'same old, same old' going on.  Today's picture was taken as Gabe and Daddy were bedding down for the night:

His daddy doll has a voice recorder in it; Ben recorded the little blurb we always say to Gabe when we tuck him in, so he gets to have 'Daddy' say goodnight every night.

That's all for tonight, folks...catch you on day 49!!

Day 47

Happy Monday to all my blog readers!  Today was the first day of the kids' spring break.  Taryn went to her dad's house this past Saturday, and won't be back til this coming Saturday.  So, it's left to Gabe and myself to entertain ourselves.

Today was laundry day:

My schedule has gotten so screwed up that I don't even remember when laundry day is actually supposed to be anymore.  I figure I must be off by about a week, since pretty much every pair of jeans I own was dirty.  It's hard to get enough laundry together to wash it once a week with Ben not being here.

I did actually get some productive things done besides laundry too.  I went to the post office and mailed another package off to Ben, then I went and ran his poor pollinated car through the car wash.  He'd be glad to know that it's now white again, rather than yellow (even though it's going to be yellow again before too much longer - darn pollen).  Now Gabe is enthralled with automatic car washes, and wants me to go back with the truck.

I hope everyone had a great day, and I'll be back on day 48!

Day 46

Happy Easter, everyone!!  I hope you all had a wonderful day.  My day was pretty slow.  I did the rounds of the pooches I'm sitting this morning, then we went to Easter services.  Someone was kind enough to snap a picture of us before we left (yes, I really do own dresses!):

After church we came back home and putzed around for a while, then we went out to Golden Corral for dinner.  Since we completely stuffed ourselves there, we went to Barnes & Noble to walk some of it off.  The original plan was to go to the mall, but most of it was closed.  It's all good...you'll never find me complaining about wandering around a bookstore!

That's all I really had going on today.  This week is spring break; Taryn is at her dad's, so Gabe and I will have to find some creative ways to amuse ourselves this week.

See everyone on day 47!!

Day 45

Another long day, finally over.  I'm keeping an eye on some pooches for a couple different friends this weekend, and boy are they wearing me out.  Kids and dogs...I'd love to know where they get all their energy.  I'm down one kid until next weekend; Taryn is at her dad's for spring break.

Speaking of kids, check out my little ham:

This is actually a really good picture of him, as he's taken to making the weirdest faces and getting in the weirdest poses whenever I try to take his picture.  When I called his name and he saw I had the camera in my hand, the expression and pose he hit made him look like he was posing for a crime scene photo...lol.

Anyway...I'm too tired to think of anything else to write, and so ends today's post.  Hope everyone has a great night...I'll be back on day 46!

Day 44

Today was a very exciting day for the kids - the last day of school before spring break.  Not only was it Popcorn Friday for Gabriel, but his class also had an Easter egg hunt today.  My day was slightly less exciting.  I worked on finishing the rest of my cleaning; a little after lunch time I made the rounds of the pooches I'm watching over the weekend.  Once the kids got home from school, we went to the commissary.  I must remember never to go there on Good Friday again - it was NUTS!!

My mother-in-law is here visiting for the weekend (now that she finally found the place...lol).  She's the centerpiece (literally) of today's picture:

The kids were practicing their game show prize presenter skills again.  I'm not sure what exactly you have to do to win a mother-in-law, but it's probably something pretty tough.

And on that note, I'm off for the evening.  I just noticed it's already 11:30 - time flies when I'm not the only adult in the house!!  See everyone on day 45!!

Day 43

Another day, another dollar...or in my case, another clean room.  I've almost got my house under control; I just have some vacuuming and such that I need to do tomorrow.

Today was a gorgeous day.  In fact, that was the impetus for today's picture - our first day above 80° (the top number is the outdoor temperature):

I wish it could just stay at this temperature, rather than getting nasty hot like I know it will.  Ben's probably thinking the same thing, as they've already had days that were over 100°.

We have now officially survived six weeks...only 46 (or so) more to go.  My 'Donut of Misery' is headed toward the 12% mark (and in even better news, my R&R donut is above 15%!!).  I hope the rest of the deployment progresses pretty much like this - slow, but not TOO slow.  It honestly doesn't seem like it's been six weeks yet - but those 46 remaining weeks are looking like an insurmountable obstacle right now.  I know it'll all even out and it'll be time for him to come home before I know it...I wish we could just skip all this in between stuff and get to that point now...lol.

And on that note, I'm heading off to bed.  I have lots of animals to check on in the morning, plus I want to mail off another care package and I need to make a commissary run.  See y'all on day 44!!
